NEXRUR use cases met in Burgos
From 15–17 April 2026, Burgos welcomed the NEXRUR use cases for a three-day workshop of the NEXRUR Community-Led Business Models (CLBM) Innovation Network. The event brought together project use case leaders, consortium partners, and representatives of the Chinese consortium to advance collaboration and exchange on rural innovation.
Organised by Universidad de Burgos and Wageningen University & Research within the framework of the NEXRUR project, the workshop strengthened collaboration across the network and offered use case partners valuable opportunities to exchange, learn from one another’s activities, and better understand their respective histories and ambitions for community-led business growth and innovation within the project.
Over the course of three intensive days, participants engaged in working sessions focused on the further development of the use cases’ canvas models – a tool that helps partners better understand, compare, and learn from community-led business cases while supporting both research and practical exchange. It examines how each initiative operates, the impacts it creates for society, the environment, and the economy, and how it contributes to broader system change (read more about this work here). Discussions also focused on capturing initial insights for the Learning History method, as well as exploring motivations, opportunities, and barriers in community-led business models, designed to complement the canvas analyses.
The programme also included field visits to local initiatives representing two of the project’s use cases. Participants explored regenerative livestock farming practices at Granja Zael, part of the DeYerba La Carne de Pasto platform, and gained insights into collaborative and regenerative approaches to viticulture in Ribera del Duero.
By combining hands-on experiences with interactive discussions, the workshop fostered knowledge exchange across local cases and sectors. It also reinforced connections between European and Chinese partners, laying a strong foundation for continued collaboration and innovation within the NEXRUR network.
