Main activities and expected outcomes
The initiative develops a territorially anchored, farmer-led value chain for organic oilseed processing, centered on collective oil pressing (trituration) and shared infrastructures. It aims to maximise product value (oil and oilcakes), strengthen regional protein autonomy for livestock, and secure stable outlets for producers, starting with national markets before progressively strengthening local outlets.
Rural problem addressed
The region faces a lack of local oilseed processing tools, limiting value creation and weakening farm competitiveness, while livestock systems remain dependent on imported protein sources such as soy.
Best practices
A key best practice is building an integrated and circular value chain linking production, processing, and livestock feeding, while ensuring complementarity between tools (trituration, storage, milling, potential malting). The initiative also emphasizes maintaining a human-scale collective and progressive development of infrastructures.
